Interestingly there is no BNP candidate
Not really, National Front are a more extreme version of the BNP, how is that 'interesting'?
Use the word "extreme" and you are (probably unconsciously) adopting a Marxist defence strategy. Many know no better, of course. Actually, there is little that is extreme about the NF unless you think ceding the English homeland to alien populations is normal. Visit their website with an open mind.
It is perhaps revealing that the BNP has chosen not to fight this time. Evidently, they think David Cameron's political back is pretty well covered. David Farage obviously doesn't think so, and it will be interesting to see how well he can do. Likewise the EDP whose single issue is getting good press converage at the moment.
"Marxist defence strategy"
"ceding the English homeland to alien populations"
What codswallop. Been reading Mein Kampf?
Tolerating immigration is not Marxist: it's a Liberal idea.
A pretty mixed result all round but not IMO really the LibDem victory some people are claiming.
It's easy to close the gap in a by-election where turnouts are generally much lower.

guessedworker: "David Farage"
I think you'll find it's actually Nigel Farage, unless you're implying a possible religious detail that most of us don't know about.
To narrow a 13,000 majority in any case, is spectacular for the Liberal Democrats.
I got the impression on the doors of many houses that people simply didn't like Bob. They generally couldn't associate with him, or didn't consider him fit for representing him as a genuine Conservative candidate.
Congratulations to him on yet another new, albeit short-lived job.
